Liam grew up on a large rural farm where he developed a hands-on approach and a strong work ethic that has remained with him to this day. After completing his education in Albury, Liam made a conscious decision to stay close to his roots, living and working in the Albury / Wodonga region.

Liam’s experience extends beyond traditional new home and renovation projects. He has spent time overseeing large scale Commercial / Industrial projects as a Site Manager on Department of Defence projects and Charles Sturt University re-developments. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence have earned him a reputation for delivering projects that consistently exceed client expectations and adhere to strict timelines while navigating any unique challenges that arise with each project.

One of the cornerstones of Liam’s professional ethos is his unwavering commitment to excellence. He approaches every project with a determination to exceed industry standards and deliver exceptional results. Recognising the importance of trust and transparency, Liam strives to build strong relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers, ensuring open lines of communication and providing regular onsite updates throughout any given project.

Samara Trethowan
Business & Accounts Manager

In Trethowan Building’s early years, Samara quietly played a crucial role, working behind the scenes and supporting her husband Liam and the team.

Before joining Trethowan Building, Samara had carved a successful career path as a qualified Veterinary Nurse and Practice Manager, accumulating 14 years of experience in the local area. Her skill in triaging business needs and managing a veterinary practice seamlessly translated into her current role, where she adeptly oversees the company’s financial accounts and operations.

Samara has a love for learning and creativity and is currently pursuing her Certificate IV in Interior Decoration, juggling her studies with family, personal and business life.

One of Samara’s most significant joys comes witnessing the entire creative process, from the initial design concepts, through to the various stages of construction and observing the meticulous execution of workmanship. She takes immense pride in the team’s efforts and the transformation of ideas into tangible and beautifully executed spaces.

Samara’s journey shows the power of adaptability and embracing new challenges. From her background in veterinary care to her current pursuit of an interior decoration qualification, she constantly seeks growth and self-improvement. Her dedication to her work, her studies, and her family reflects a harmonious balance of passion and responsibility, making her an invaluable asset to the business.

Jayne McKenzie
Operations Manager & Interior Consultant

Jayne was born and raised in Wodonga and made the move to Albury in 2010 when she and her husband, Scott, purchased their first home. Since then, they have recently completed their third and final renovation on the house, and they can finally say that their forever home is complete. Jayne and Scott have two daughters, Ellery and Hazel, and they share their lives with their beloved dogs, Ruby and Maggie.

From a young age, Jayne had a keen interest in house designs and delighted in visiting display homes. After high school, she completed her Diploma in Building Design and Technology, followed by a Diploma of Interior Design. Currently, Jayne is furthering her education in Certificate IV in Building and Construction, constantly expanding her knowledge and expertise.

Jayne has taken on various roles at Trethowan Building, displaying her versatility and commitment. She excels in concept design, breathing life into innovative ideas, and adds style to spaces through interior and exterior colour selections. Her attention to detail shines through as she prepares specifications, handles permit submissions, and manages purchase orders for smooth project execution.

Designing bespoke structures that encapsulate the individuality of each client is Jayne’s favourite aspect of her job. She understands that a building is more than just its physical components; it is a reflection of personal identity and dreams. With passion and commitment to excellence, Jayne embraces every project as an opportunity to create custom living spaces that leave a lasting impact.

Josh Hicks
Site Foreman

Josh our Site Foreman, joined us at the beginning of 2023. With almost three decades of experience living in the border region, Josh has developed a deep understanding of the local community and its needs.

Josh’s journey in carpentry began at the young age of 17, and over the years, he has relished the diverse opportunities that the industry has offered him. Before becoming part of the Trethowan team, Josh successfully operated his own carpentry business, collaborating with various local builders. This experience has equipped him with invaluable expertise in all aspects of carpentry.

Beyond his passion for carpentry, Josh is also a devoted family man. He has a loving and hard-working wife named Eliza, and together they have two young boys, Grayson and Archer. Family is a priority for Josh, and he cherishes spending time with them, especially enjoying caravanning trips.

When the cooler months arrive, you’ll find Josh out on the football field, he plays firsts for Kiewa Sandy Creek. His commitment to teamwork and collaboration on and off the field reflects his approach to his work as well.

As the Site Foreman at Trethowan Building, Josh eagerly looks forward to working with clients, tradespeople, and colleagues to deliver building outcomes that go beyond the standard, focusing on providing quality construction for the benefit of the community. With his extensive background and dedication to excellence, Josh is a valuable asset to our team.

Britney McLaren
Carpenter

Britney joined our team in January of 2023 as a 4th Year Apprentice Carpenter and in August 2023 she successfully completed her Apprenticeship.

Britney was born in Tasmania, before growing up and completing her schooling in Mount Beauty. She made a bold decision embarking on a 4 year apprenticeship, which has now lead to her qualification .

Amidst her professional work, Britney embraces her role as a mum to her two-year-old daughter. Balancing the demands of her work and motherhood, she finds joy in creating a nurturing and loving environment for her little one.

Britney enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing with her family and friends.

As she reflects on her journey, Britney’s success in her apprenticeship is a testament to her unwavering commitment and the support she receives from her loved ones. Completing her apprenticeship marks the beginning of a promising career and sets the stage for more exciting opportunities ahead.
